Xbox 360 Arcade

A review of the Marvel vs Capcom 3 arcade stick.
Not too long ago the 3rd party peripheral manufacture MadCatz was known for their substandard and cheapish controllers. Fast forward to present day, the brand Madcatz is now deep rooted in the fighting game community and is known for their quality accessories like the Street Fighter IV Tournament Edition Round One and Round Two arcade sticks for the Xbox and PS3 consoles. With quality construction and authentic arcade parts they are regularly seen at such fighting game tournaments like EVO and Super Battle Opera.
The release of the new fighting game title, Marvel vs Capcom 3 has opened the door for MadCatz to come up with something special. Teaming up with comic book giant Marvel they have designed a limited edition Marvel Vs Capcom 3 arcade stick.
The new Marvel vs Capcom 3 arcade stick stays in line with the Tournament Edition Round II design and keeps the same eight button “Vewlix” layout but with some new official Marvel and Capcom approved artwork. If you think that the stick artwork is ok wait till you see the box! Some of the best Marvel and Capcom artwork I’ve ever seen. It beautifully covers every inch of the box and the front fold out panels. Although it makes a good carry case it isn’t something that would want to just throw around. The quality work that has gone into it is just great to look at.
The weight of the stick is quite nice sits firmly in your lap while playing and has ample room for your wrists to rest. Four rubber feet keep the stick from sleeping around when playing on a table or chair.
Like the other Tournament Edition sticks the Marvel vs Capcom 3 arcade stick uses Sanwa Denshi arcade quality parts for the joystick and buttons, and the same eight button setup is also used in the Vewlix style layout. The buttons are super responsive and will register the input with just a brush of your finger. Some may say a little too responsive. The joystick is the same ball top style as the Vewlix arcade cabinet rather than the American styled bat top.
A control panel gives you easy access to the Xbox 360 Home button and also controls the Turbo function. 3 speed settings can be assigned to each button and can be locked as well, meaning less chance to bump it during tournament play.
A 13Ft USB cable gives a lag free connection to the console. A storage compartment on the rear of the stick has ample space for the cable so transporting the stick to a friend’s house is easy.
You don’t really need to be a fighting game fanatic to enjoy the quality of the stick. The fantastic graphics and uniqueness of having an arcade stick on display will sure get some comments from your mates… but the price of $130 may put you off. My suggestion is just use it! Enjoy the
Marvel vs Capcom 3 arcade stick
and play the game! That’s it!
